2025 Week 1 Recap
December 29th, 2024 - January 4th, 2025
Welcome to my new weekend recap series for all things Shrush Design. Truthfully there is not much to recap this week as I am recovering from the holidays + feeling a little under the weather. 2024 was a rough year for me and my business, but I intend on turning that around this year in 2025. Tomorrow, January 6th, 2025 is my official restart date.
With all of that being said, I’d like to take some time to look back on some of the projects I worked on in 2024:
The theme of 2024 was unfinished projects.
I attempted to finish another spring mural on my back window — and failed — just as I had done the previous year in 2023 (see this video for 2023). And technically, I was doing it as a summer window mural since I was using that room as a greenhouse for the seedlings I grew for my garden in the spring. I do have some of the beginning process in this video. I was sort of successful with my seedlings and my garden this year so at least I got something productive done.
This also went along with me trying to catch up on the spring signage I was originally going to do in 2023 (with the quotes from this video). That didn’t happen either.
The next big thing I had planned was my Halloween Window Mural for 2024. I even spoke about it on this video - my recap of my 2023 Halloween Window Mural video. I didn’t even start it this year. And this one really bothered me because my Halloween Window Mural from 2021 is where it all began. I wanted to be able to show my Halloween Window Mural from each year since 2021, and now that is ruined. A big reason of why I didn’t end up doing this project was that I was focusing my energy on my local in-person business and an event I was doing at a local park within my community. And I just didn’t have enough time or energy for both. Plus, I knew that the window wasn’t even going to be seen by that many people in my community because we don’t get many trick-or-treaters anymore.
A lot of my issues with getting these projects done or getting videos out in general had to do with me having other things that needed to get done first. This channel & my online business for Shrush Design unfortunately took a back seat. And this, of course, also included my Procreate videos - which I know are popular on my channel.
Now, I had one more large project that I’m still working on and am planning on finishing soon, but it was unfinished as of the end of 2024 — and certainly past it’s point of relevancy. I’m talking about my Holiday Window Mural for 2024. At this point, I am almost done with it, and like I said, I do plan on finishing it. This one was especially difficult to finish due to other holiday obligations, having to earn money in other ways (since my channel is not monetized - nor is any of my social media), extremely cold weather, and the fact that I got sick in between Christmas and New Year’s Day, and I’m still slowly getting over it.

As I said, 2024 was a struggle for me and my business, but I feel renewed and optimistic about 2025.
